Dominion donation helps mental health program at free clinic

The Dominion Foundation recently presented the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic (NNFHC) with an increased donation of $5,000 to support the on-site mental health counseling program at the Clinic.

The program began in February of 2010 with the support of a 3-year step-down grant from the Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF), and in two and a half years it has provided for well over a thousand patient visits. Through a partnership with the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board (CSB), therapist Bob Ritchey offers counseling support on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Clinic.

NNFHC patients who benefit from counseling are the low-income and uninsured in the Northern Neck and Middlesex County who would not otherwise be able to afford these services.

“If not for contributions like that of the Dominion Foundation, providing these services would be impossible,” said Jean Nelson, NNFHC Executive Director. “The donation helps keep the program in operation, and with the help of our partners, we hope to impact the lives of many more patients to come.”
