Area residents have a wonderful opportunity to support two local organizations at this year’s Rappahannock River Run 5k.
Runners and walkers can register today for the 5k/3.1-mile Rappahannock River Run which will take place at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13. The cost to participate is $20 before October 1, 2012, and includes a race packet with an event t-shirt. To register, visit the weekend event’s website at www.sms.org/riverrun or call Sarah C. Weakley ’04, the event’s coordinator, at 804-443-3357.
While advance registration is recommended, race-day registration ($25) will be held from 7:00 to 7:45 a.m. in front of St. Margaret’s Hall at 444 Water Lane. The flat, fast course begins and ends at St. Margaret’s School and takes participants through Tappahannock’s historic district.
The event is a community outreach project of the St. Margaret’s School Alumnae Association, which will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Friends of the Rappahannock, a local non-profit organization that is “the voice and active force for a healthy and scenic Rappahannock River!”
The entire local community is welcome on the St. Margaret’s campus for this dog-, stroller-, and kid-friendly event. Mark your calendars, sign up for the race, and we will see you there!
