Colonial Beach Historical Society announces October event lineup
The First Annual Scarecrow Fun Festival – sponsored by the Colonial Beach Historical Society benefiting The Museum – will be held on Oct. 27 at the Museum from 2 to 4 p.m. Start getting your scarecrow design idea together and come join us at the museum for a fun filled festival afternoon. Scarecrows will be on display outside of the museum through Thanksgiving so don’t plan on getting the scarecrow back. A Scarecrow decorating kit is part of the price, but plan to bring your ideas, your scarecrow clothing, scarecrow face makeup, gloves, shoes et al. More to come on this fun event.
“Spirits on the Boardwalk” will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 to 10:30 a.m., sponsored by the “Colonial Beach Boo Patrol.” Bring your cameras, camcorders and paranormal equipment to capture spirits on the boardwalk while learning history of the Colonial Beach boardwalk along with hearing local folk lore that has been shared by local long time residents. We look forward to share this history with you and for your participation in this first of its kind boardwalk event. The walk starts at the American Legion, proceeds down the boardwalk, and up Hawthorne Street to the Museum. The walk concludes at The Museum with discussion, cider and cookies.
