Wittman is working for us all the time, full time in DC

I wholeheartedly support Rob Wittman for reelection as Representative of the 1st Congressional District of Virginia. Let me tell you why!

Got an opinion? Send your letter to the Editor by emailing wmneditor@lcs.net, by fax to 493-8099 or by mail to P.O. Box 699, Montross, VA 22520 by 5 p.m. Friday.

Rob grew up on the Chesapeake Bay tributaries in Westmoreland County. He knows the Bay, its troubles, and how it positively affects all of the people in the tidewater area and the economy of the entire state and much of the country.

Even if you don’t agree with Rob on a specific issue, he will meet with you, look you straight in the eye, and listen to your point of view. You can count on the fact that he has sincerely thought through many of the different sides to issues, and he will openly listen to yours.

Rob Wittman is not a part time member of the House of Representatives. He is on the job all the time he is in Washington; In addition he travels home to Montross almost every night to be with his family as they are the foundation of his drive to make the future of the First District, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States a better place for all of us.

National defense is important to all of us! Rob Wittman is an enthusiastic member of the Armed Services Committee, and he votes to provide the best military that our nation deserves.

Should you not know Rob Wittman, meet him and get to know him. Our Country would be much better off if we had more friends like Rob Wittman representing us in Congress.

Join me and vote for Rob on November 6th.

This year’s election boils down to the economy, again

It should be obvious to anyone who watched the presidential debate on Oct. 3 to conclude that the sorry state of the nation’s economy is a key issue for the voters in 2012.

It also ought to be a criterion in selecting good, honest people for the House of Representatives.

In the First Congressional District of Virginia, we have an incumbent, Rep. Rob Wittman, who has a strong record of working to get people back to work, to put a stop to out-of–control spending, and to make tough decisions on balancing the budget.

Rob’s record includes supporting the JOBS Act, to provide small business relief from excessive regulation and make it easier to create jobs.  He has also voted against increasing the debt limit and supports finding ways to solve the long-term federal spending problem.  He has supported the SAFE Commission Act, which provides for a commission to address the economic crisis by putting entitlements, tax policy and all federal programs up for debate. The bill provides that Congress vote yes or no on the commission’s recommendations.

He led the fight for earmark reform and pledges to work to reform the appropriations process.

There is a lot more that could be added to the above list.  But briefly, it makes no sense to change our First District leadership with an unknown when we already have one of the most competent, hard working and approachable Members of Congress now.

We support Rob Wittman and urge all First District voters to vote for him on Nov. 6.
