Tate selected NAACP queen
The Westmoreland Branch of NAACP crowned Amira Tate as 2013 Queen. Tate attends Jerusalem Baptist Church in Oldhams. Nine churches were represented at the pageant.
Amira, 6, is a first grader at Cople Elementary School, but she’ll shoulder an impressive responsibility.
“She will represent the Westmoreland Branch NAACP at all of its events in 2013,” says Odessa Roane. Events include the state convention, and the Montross Fall Festival.
Andrea Roane, principal of Washington & Lee High School, was keynote speaker and talked about “Success Through Service.” She elaborated on the formula “Collaboration, Commitment and Consistency” and urged area churches to continue projects that strengthen the NAACP, for commitment to a project until it is completed and for consistency of action.
