Wrestling: Lancaster at Mathews TBD

On Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m., the top four schools with the best record will compete in the Northern Neck District Scholastic Bowl Tournament held at Colonial Beach High School on January 16 at 5:30 p.m. In the first round of play, top seeded Lancaster (9-1) will compete against fourth-seeded Essex (4-6), and second-seeded Rappahannock (6-4) will face off with third seeded Northumberland (6-4). The winner of each of those matches will move on to the final round.  The winner of the final round will go to the Regional Competition with Lancaster.  If Lancaster wins the tournament, then the team that opposes them in the final round will go to the regional tournament as well.

Notices

Youth Basketball will be held at Colonial Beach High School starting Jan. 5 through Feb. 9every Saturday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Registration begins Dec. 15 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and Jan 5 from 7-8 a.m. Cost is $25 per child $45 for two and 3 or more $55. Contact 540-220-3363 for information.

 

On Jan. 26, the Washington & Lee volleyball program will be hosting a youth volleyball camp for girls 8 years of age and up at Washington & Lee High School from 9:30-11:30 a.m.  All those attending, please come with athletic wear, tennis shoes, and a smile on your face. The camp will be based on the fundamentals of volleyball.  Come out and be ready to have fun and learn volleyball skills with the Lady Eagles Volleyball Team. There is no cost for the camp, but donations to help the W&L Volleyball Team attend a team camp in July will be accepted at the registration table. Northern Neck Wrestling Club is currently enrolling for wrestling for all Northern Neck kids grades 1-8. Training is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and the season runs through March. You can visit us during practice and register at the NNWC facility located on Dodlyt Rd. just behind the old Northumberland High School from 6:00 – 7:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday nights. The Northumberland High School Athletic Booster Club is currently accepting applications for membership for the 2012-2013 season. This year the Boosters are offering 10 different membership options, in hopes to accommodate a wide range of students, parents and community members.
