Alice Marie Smith Coffey
Alice Marie Smith Coffey, 88, of Warsaw, passed away on Jan. 13, 2013. She
was the widow of John Howard Smith and Frederick Coffey, a homemaker and a
member of Menokin Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Bob S. Smith (Arlene) of Warsaw; daughter, Mary
A. Marks (Ray) of Moorehead City, N.C.; brothers, Alvin Balderson of
Tappahannock and Irvin Balderson (Vickie) of Lively; sister, Viola Connelly
(Neal) of Warsaw; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and three
She was preceded in death by two sons, Howard E. Smith and Donald G. Smith.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Welch Funeral Home,
Montross Chapel with Pastor Wade Wilkins officiating. Interment was in
Menokin Baptist Church Cemetery.

Gordon Lindberg “Lindy” Combs
Gordon Lindberg (Lindy) Combs from Colonial Beach Virginia and Palm Bay, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 6, 2013 at the age of 84.
Gordon is predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Lena (Flo) Combs, son Tommy, father, Ernest Combs, Sr., and mother, Goldie Winfield Combs.
Gordon is survived by his daughters, Karen Combs Lafferty of Port Orange, Florida, and Lena Dale Wilson of Hartly, Delaware.
Gordon is lovingly remembered by his brothers, Buddy Combs and Ernie Combs, of Colonial Beach, Virginia., his sister in-laws; Barbara Combs and Dolores Combs also of Colonial Beach, Virginia
He will be missed by his grandchildren, Shannon Marie Lafferty and Jarred Cameron Lafferty of Port Orange, Florida; his great-grandchildren; Araya Marie Lafferty and Braden Zander Lafferty of Port Orange, Florida; his nieces, Wanda Combs Farmer, Cheryl Combs Moran, and Melody Combs Viet; and nephew Lester Combs of Colonial Beach, Virginia his great nieces, Megan Farmer and Jenna Moran, and his great-nephews, Matthew Combs, Jeffrey Farmer, Andrew Combs and Corey Viet; his grand-nephews, Dayton, Zachary and Roegan Combs all from Colonial Beach, Va.
He is also lovingly remembered by his dear companion, Peggy Cenekofsky of Colonial Beach and Palm Bay Florida.
Gordon was born in Oak Grove, Virginia, on April 12, 1928. He graduated from Oak Grove High School, was a veteran of the Korean War, and later earned a Certified Mechanic of Car Manufacturing Degree, while working at General Motors, as an Administrative Foreman in Baltimore, Maryland. He also did some farming for Garland Sauer and drove the activity bus for Colonial Beach High School.
Gordon enjoyed fishing, gardening, boating, and spending time with his family and friends. His special interests were helping the Veterans of Foreign Wars, most especially being very involved with the VFW events. He was always laughing ,making others laugh, was an avid sportsman and loved hunting. He also enjoyed riding his tractor, singing Bluegrass and Gospel music.
A service of remembrance and celebration of life will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 8096 Leedstown Road, Oak Grove Virginia on January 26 at 11:00am with Pastors Randall Snipes and Willard Bowen Officiating. Burial of his ashes will be at Historyland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local church food pantry or charity of your choice.
Nathaniel “Nat” Davis
Nathaniel Davis passed away on Jan. 16, 2013. Nat, as he was famously known,
was born Sept. 22, 1923 to the late Linwood and Maggie Davis in Warsaw. He
was educated in a one room school in Warsaw, however, his education was
interrupted due to assisting his father and mother with the farm work.
Nat was employed with BF Goodrich Tire Company in Washington, D.C. For 40
years as a truck driver and master tire technician.
After retirement, in 1986, Nat returned to his home in Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Joseph and four
sisters, Victoria, Mary, Columbia and Ada.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Juanita; daughter, Sheila
Robinson, Clinton, Md.; granddaughter, Toni Scott (Carlos), Baldwinsville,
NY; great-grandchildren, Tayler Williams, Rochester, NY, Chace and Savannah
Scott, Baldwinsville, NY; one sister, Marie Gray, Philadelphia, Pa., and a
host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Pastor Darryl E. Fisher officiated. Pastor Henry C. Lee, Eulogist. Interment
was in Pleasant Valley Memorial Park, Annandale, Va.
