Renwick Algene Jones Sr. “Slim”

Renwick Algene Jones Sr. “Slim” was called to eternal rest on March 10, 2013 at his residence after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 7, 1959 to Frank Algene Jones Sr. and Sounia Carey in Richmond.
Renwick joined Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry C. Lee. In recent years, under the leadership of Pastor Darryl Fisher, Renwick became a trustee and he was also a member of the Jerusalem Men¹s Chorus and Gospel Chorus. He loved singing praises to God and was writing a song. He was educated in the Westmoreland County public school system and graduated from Washington and Lee High School in 1978.
He met and married Claudia A. Turner and to this union two children were born, Renwick Jr. and Renita Jones. Renwick chose to follow in the footsteps of his father in the drywall construction field. His employment took him to a number of large contractors including Maryland Applicators, Maryland Drywall, and C. J. Coakley. He was also employed by Jet Construction Company (his uncle¹s company) from July 2006 to October 2011.
Renwick was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He also liked to play pool and cards. Renwick liked to help others and he believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. During his illness he called on Him for strength and believed nothing was impossible with the Lord and that He would take care of him.
Renwick was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Renwick A. Jones Jr. (R.J.); a daughter, Renita Jones; devoted mother, Sounia Carey; loving siblings, Wanda Tate (Lorenza), Odell, Darlene, Mavis, and Frank Jr. (Reba); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends; a special friend, Timmy Green and devoted friends, Joseph (Steppie) Parker and Helen Golden.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Hague. Pastor Lorenza N. Tate officiated. Pastor Darryl E. Fisher, Eulogist. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
