Oak Grove man arrested for child pornography

An investigation by local law enforcement into the use child pornography has led to the arrest of an Oak Grove man.
On April 16, Edwin L. Pope, 36 of Oak Grove, had his first hearing in the Westmoreland General District Court after being charged with 10 counts of reproducing child pornography.
Pope was arrested at his residence followed by a search warrant allowing law enforcement to collect electronic equipment, cells phones and a computer, according to Westmoreland County Sheriff C.O. Balderson.
After a tip came in from neighboring agency King George, Balderson said his office took over the case on the premise that the alleged offenses occurred in Westmoreland County.
Pope was awarded no bond after being arrested on April 12 and has since been held at the Northern Neck Regional Jail. King George and Gloucester Sheriff’s Offices assisted with the investigation.
