Randy Brown Golf Tournament, June 28
The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School Education Foundation is sponsoring a golf tournament on Friday, June 28, at Hobbs Hole Golf Course in Tappahannock, in honor of retired faculty member Randy Brown.
Registration for the tournament begins at 8:00 a.m. with T-offs starting at 9 a.m. The format is a four man scramble with other challenges available throughout the morning. Following the golf tournament, players will have a BBQ lunch which is available to non-golfers for $15.
Randy Brown has been the embodiment of excellence in education for the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck for the past 40 years. As a teacher of mathematics, Randy has taught with a no-nonsense rigor that has challenged students to rise to their personal best and become truly educated. All the while, Randy has maintained a deep sense of humor, an incredible sense of style and a genuine love of her profession and her students.
When alumni from Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School return for visits, they simply state, “I had Ms. Brown”, with a look of strong confidence on their faces that they wear as a badge of achievement. In a time when our society has often denigrated teaching as a profession, Randy, through her professionalism and dedication, has stood as an inspiration to younger generations of teachers. Randy has touched many minds and hearts in her impressive career, and she will continue to inspire generations of us through her teaching legacy and shining spirit.
Information about the golf tournament is available on the Foundation website at www.cbgsfoundation.com, or can be obtained by calling the school at 804-758-6788. The registration fee is $75 per golfer and all donations are tax deductible. This event is the major fundraising effort for the CBGS Education Foundation. Its goal is to raise funds to support the academic and field studies programs for the students. This year the Foundation purchased new kayaks, the necessary equipment for their use, and repaired and updated the kayak trailer. It also provided scholarships to students in financial need.
