Vehicle accident halts traffic in Oldhams

Two drivers in an accident delaying traffic around Oldhams last Friday received only minor injuries, according to the Virginia State Police.

Two drivers in an accident delaying traffic around Oldhams last Friday received only minor injuries, according to Sgt. Thomas Molnar, of the Virginia State Police.
On June 28 before 11 a.m., Molnar reported that two vehicle crash on Route 203 at Route 620 in Westmoreland County sent two drivers to Riverside Hospital.

Molnar stated that the crash occurred when the driver of a 2009 Saturn failed to yield the right-of-way and was struck by the driver of a 1989 International 1600 truck.  The truck was traveling south on Route 203 when the driver of the Saturn was attempting to make a left onto Route 203 from Route 620.

Both driver’s, who were the only occupants, were wearing their safety belts, Molnar said.

The driver of the Saturn, Briana M. Brooks, 22, of Warsaw, was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way. The truck driver was  James P. Smith, 50, Montross.
