Colonial Beach students ‘pay it forward’ with tasty community project

Colonial Beach High School’s class of 2015 is feeding the community.

The rising high school juniors are holding a free dinner event on Thursdays in August, called “Pay it Forward-Feed the Community” to help give back to local residents.

From 5-7:30 p.m., the students will be cooking and serving up a meal to anyone who comes in.

The juniors are holding the weekly dinners as part of their community service project, which is required prior to graduation.

As of July 25, students have served a pancake dinner and tacos with Spaghetti.

Taco night brought in 75 hungry people, but the young ladies in charge, Brooke Payne and Kadera Lyburn are hoping for a much larger turnout over the next several weeks. They are looking to feed hungry individuals hamburgers and hot dogs on  August 1.

The meal is free of  charge and held at the Colonial Beach High School cafeteria. All ages are invited.
