Lady Eagles earn first district win
After a few days off from competition, the Washington & Lee Varsity Volleyball Team opened with a 3-1 loss to the start the week, but gained some momentum ending the week after 3-2 win in the conference.

Tuesday last week, W&L fell to a new look Essex Team in a 3-1 match (22-25, 16-25, 25-23, 18-25).
Ashley McGill and Victoria Minor led the Lady Eagles tying with six kills each. Minor also led the team with four aces followed by Devany Jones with three.
Alexa Weeks cleaned up the net with five blocks and was joined by Savannah Seager with three. Jones and Minor let little get passed them on the ground leading the team with five digs each. Jones also chipped in with all of the nine assists for the Eagles.
In Thursday’s district matchup, W&L came out as the victors coming back from a 2-0 deficit in the match against the defending Region A Division 1 volleyball champion Rappahannock Raiders. W&L went on to win three straight sets to earn their first district win (25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 22-25, 10-15).
Minor stole the show leading W&L with 14 kills and three aces followed by Weeks with 11 kills. Abbey Perkins, Jones, Seager and Weeks each had two aces.
Minor also led the team around the net with four blocks. Veronica Wyszynski and Weeks each had two. Weeks earned her way to lead the team in digs with 14 while Jones was credited with all of the team’s 21 assists.
W&L improved to 4-5 on the season and earned their first district win of the season.
