Eagles making strides to success
A handful of games in the final week of 2013 remain before Washington & Lee will host the Golden Eagle Booster Club Classic. Their opponent is conference rival Rappahannock (Warsaw) and is expected
Washington & Lee Eagles
to draw a large gathering to follow the Christmas holiday.
On Dec. 27, the Rappahannock Girls will travel to Washington & Lee for a 6 p.m. tipoff and will be followed by the boys at approximately 8 p.m.
Rappahannock’s teams were off to a fast start winning games in the opening two weeks of the season. While for the home teams, the girls were seeking their first win and the boys are looking for continuity with a .500 record.
Last week the W&L girls’ basketball team fell to Colonial Beach 58-12 and the next day went tooth and nail against King William only to be handed a 45-43 loss on Dec. 12.
Alexia Tate had a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the game.
On the boys’ side, Tre Brown’s 20 points was not enough to withstand their second loss to Colonial Beach, 66-57, but earned their second victory of the season over King William, 57-44.
