Colonial Beach School-Remembering When
Over a week has passed since the morning that flames overtook the old high school/elementary school building in Colonial Beach. The scorched remains of the building sits on top of the hill as a reminder of that sad morning, but also as a reminder of the fond memories made within the walls of the school. The community continues to work together to find a new home for the elementary school students and teachers, and to raise funds and gather donations for the school. The community has also continued to pay tribute to the school by sharing stories of their beloved alma mater.

Kathy Dove, who attended Colonial Beach High School and graduated in 1980, says she has nothing but fond memories of her teachers and fellow classmates. “Colonial Beach gets a lot of bad publicity all the time. I don’t live in Colonial Beach, but on my frequent trips there to visit family, I always ride by and reflect on what a wonderful experience I had.”
Joe James, who went to the school from Kindergarten to 7th grade, said he spent a lot of time in the gym and will miss that old center of learning.
