Duck hunting, from generation to generation

Duck hunting is a sport that has not only been around for hundreds of years, but has been a tradition that has been passed on from one generation to the next. On Feb. 1, Brian Fletcher and his son Jake Fletcher took the opportunity of Youth Waterfowl Day to pass this tradition along to the youth. Brian owns a company out of Deltaville, Virginia called Delta Marine Construction. In the summer of 2013 Brian built two duck blinds in the Potomac River with just this day in mind. “I love watching kids’ eyes light up at the site of hundreds of ducks coming into the decoys,” said Brian.

What Brian didn’t know was that this day was going to be a lot more special than anticipated. The frigid temperatures in the weeks prior to Youth Waterfowl Day made the ice Brian and Jake’s friend that day.
