Eagles soccer ends regular season with a big win
Having been rained out of the much-anticipated showdown with Essex Wednesday night, the Washington & Lee boy’s soccer team ended its regular season Friday night at Lancaster. The Eagles overcame both the hosts and poor officiating to end the regular season on a seven game win streak.
In the ninth minute, Jacob Daiger found Luis Chipres breaking away up the left side, and Chipres blasted it past the Lancaster goalie for a quick W&L lead. Eleven minutes later, the two worked a give and go, this time ending with Daiger scoring from directly in front of the goal.
From this point, Lancaster seemed content to knock down W&L players rather than play soccer, and the officiating crew did nothing to control it. Even so, in the 27th minute, Jessie Garcia took control of an errant Lancaster pass at midfield. He weaved through seven Lancaster players trying to tackle him before he beat the goalie and put W&L up 3-0.
