Senior Spotlight: Milan Bullock
While Washington and Lee Senior Milan Bullock appears to be quite a modest young man, he certainly has a lot to brag about.
Following the sports banquet on Thursday, June 12 Bullock had so many awards he could barely hold them all for a picture.
Bullock is a three-sport athlete and judging from all the awards he won, a star in every one. He was awarded the Sportsmanship award for Boys Basketball, MVP (Field) for Track and Field and the Senior Athlete Award.
Bullock helped lead the Eagles to the playoffs in football and basketball. He was named all district, all conference and all academic in football, basketball and track.
Most recently Bullock won the state high jump title with a jump of 6’1” at Radford University. He is the state champion in Division 1A for men’s high jump and was also number 1 in the conference and the region. Bullock said it was a major surprise to win States, but that it had been his goal. He explained that last year he didn’t do well at States and that losing last year pushed him to do well this year. As for his success in all three sports he plays, Bullock said he wouldn’t know if it just comes natural because he is always working hard. “Work with what you have.” His mother, however, said that though he does work hard, it does come natural for him. She is super proud. Bullock said he was surprised to win so many awards at the banquet and it gave him a feeling he couldn’t describe. Athletic Director Malcolm Lewis noted that he doesn’t recall any senior getting as many as Bullock.
