Westmoreland Ladies Brave New River Gorge
During the week of July 21, four Westmoreland ladies and two companions set out for a challenging adventure in the high country of West Virginia, specifically the New River Gorge. Their destination was “Adventures on the Gorge”, an all-inclusive family resort located on the rim of the New River. These adventurous souls are the stellar members of the Women’s Expeditionary Trailblazers International (WETBI), and they had their pick of a number of daring events. Since their time was limited, they chose to restrict participation to white water rafting, timber trek aerial adventure (walking, climbing, swing bridge crossing, log hopping, etc), walking the catwalk (as seen in the photo) of the New River Gorge Bridge (851 feet above gorge water), stand up paddle boarding, and of course, short and long distance ZIP lining. The adjoining photo shows these brave souls suited in the safety equipment preparing for their long ZIP line run, seen in the background. From left to right: Bobbie Dugan (Hague), Barbara Lee (Florida), Wanda Woodburn, Vicki Moss, Jacqueline Mackey (all from Kinsale) and Barbara Cunningham (Maryland).
All returned a little bit sore, but anxious to return to the fresh mountain air, the wonderful accommodations in the Outback or Deluxe cabins, the amenities, tasty food, fellowship and even more challenging adventures.
