Opening day for Youth Football
The surrounding counties gathered in Westmoreland at W&L High School for opening day of Youth Football. The league consists of the Peewee (6-8), JV (9-11), and Varsity (12-13). The games started at 9 a.m., and were played on two fields to accommodate all the teams. The volunteers of the Westmoreland Recreation League did an outstanding job setting up the game schedule and start times, having officials on site and on time, getting the players weighed, and ensuring they had all the safety equipment required to play.
The cheerleaders keeping the crowd involved
We can’t forget about the parents and other family members that sacrifice their time to get the players to practice and the games. When the young players are on the field, they are there to have fun. If you take away the equipment, the coaches, the officials, and fans the players would have just as much fun running up and down the field and making up their own rules. The little cheerleaders would have to stay because they screamed their little lungs out, and smiled the entire game.
