The surrounding counties gathered in Westmoreland at W&L High School for opening day of Youth Football. The league consists of the Peewee (6-8), JV (9-11), and Varsity (12-13). The games started at 9 a.m., and were played on two fields to accommodate all the teams.     The NN Rivermen football team was home to face the Virginia Crusaders the reigning league Champions on Saturday August 9. Both team’s defenses were their strong points in the first half. The Rivermen gave up a touchdown late in the first quarter, and created turnovers to give the offense an opportunity to score.   • Chasing her dreams Down Under

    Kathryn Beddoo, an upcoming senior at Washington and Lee High School knows running. She has spent many years practicing and racing and winning. This is why she was invited to run in two races sponsored by Down Under Sports in Australia earlier this month. In doing so, she has added another run to her list, but was also afforded the opportunity to experience many things for the very first time.
