Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society of Virginia (MPAAGHS) will hold its monthly meeting, 11 a.m. at the Essex County Public Library, 117 North Church Lane (Rt. 17), Tappahannock. All persons who are interested in African-American genealogy and history are invited to attend. Experienced researchers and novices alike are welcome.

New Monrovia Baptist Church will be having a Singing Concert on Saturday, March 9 at 3 p.m. The following groups will be singing: All Together Gospel Singers, Union Bethel Gospel Chorus, Siloam Men Chorus and Grants Hill Gospel Ensemble.

President Wayne Lowe and Vice President Wayne Parrish, Fairfields United Methodist Church in Burgess, will be the chief cooks and bottle washers as Fairfields United Methodist Men put on a Corned Beef or Ham and Cabbage Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. in the church social hall. The menu will be: corned beef or ham, cabbage, potatoes, stewed tomatoes, corn bread, dessert and beverage. Price will be “BY DONATION”. For “Take Outs” call 453-2631.
