      On Saturday, Nov. 9 Virginia Cooperative Extension will hold a 4-H Dad & me Canoe Trip. Boys and girls 6th grade and up with their dads or guardians are invited. The event will be held from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Glebe Creek (Hull Springs Farm). Price is reduced and space is limited, register now. $

      Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society of Virginia (MPAAGHS) will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Essex County Public Library, 117 North Church Lane (Rt. 17), Tappahannock, Virginia. MPAAGHS president Bessida Cauthorne White will share information disseminated at the recent national conference of the African-American Historical and Genealogical Society. Persons attending the meeting will also have the opportunity to share genealogical successes and discoveries, as well as roadblocks encountered in doing family research..

    2. Angel Visit Baptist Church 52nd Men and Boys’ Day
      8:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Angel Visit Baptist Church, Dunnsville, Virginia, will observe its 52nd Annual Men and Boys’ Day on Sunday, Nov. 10. A fellowship breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. in the William Amos Young Fellowship Hall. The Reverend Bruce Burton, Associate Minister of the St. James Baptist Church, Varina, Va., will be the breakfast speaker. The celebration will continue with the morning worship service at 10 a.m. The Reverend Morris Randall, Pastor of the Ephesus Baptist Church, West Point, Va. will deliver the message. Music will be rendered by the Spiritual Harmonizers of Northern Virginia. A special feature of the day will be the recognition of persons who have served in the Armed Forces.     1. The Northern Neck Audubon society (NNAS) bird walk
      8:00 am – 5:00 pm

      The Northern Neck Audubon society (NNAS) will conduct a bird walk at the Laurel Grove tract of the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge, located on Farnham Creek in Lancaster County. Carpools will leave Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock at 7:15 a.m.  Those driving directly should meet at Laurel Grove at 8 a.m. Loaner binoculars will be available.
