    The Washington and Lee Cross Country teams participated in the Fredericksburg All Area Cross Country Meet on Thursday, October 16.  The event held at Fredericksburg Christian High School hosted 14 high schools in the local region with over 350 runners.  The All-Area designation is given to the top 20 runners.   Finishing in 7th place for the boys varsity was W&L Eagle Hasan Gill with a personal record time of

  • Washington and Lee Eagles varsity football team takes down Northumberland, improves to 7-0

    In a penalty-plagued match up against the undefeated Washington & Lee Eagles, the Northumberland varsity football team was dealt the short end of the stick as they lost 27-0.  Penalties killed a couple of drives by both teams, but three flags called back three apparent Northumberland touchdowns.   • Essex over Colonial Beach, 28-20

    The Drifters’ Lamar Lucas scored all three of his team’s touchdowns Friday night.

    Northern Neck District football fans got a treat Friday night as Essex fought off a scrappy Colonial Beach team to earn a homecoming victory, 28-20, in Tappahannock. Colonial Beach fought to the last, keeping the highly-rated Essex squad on its toes in game sure to have playoff implications.  Both teams are now 5-2 overall, but Essex remains perfect in the district, 2-0, while Colonial Beach falls to 1-1.   • Colonial Beach Drifters varsity football team shuts out Rappahannock Raiders

    The Drifters varsity football team was home versus the Raiders on Thursday October 9. The Drifters hit the ground running and never stopped. Their twelve play 58 yard drive resulted in a two yard touchdown run by Lamar Lucas. An interception by Andrai Turner gave the Drifters the ball back on the fourteen yard line.     Eighth grader, Jenifer Broglin, triumphed in the JV race at the annual Maymont Cross Country Festival this past weekend.     Washington & Lee’s football team started off slowly against the visiting King William Cavaliers.  However, once they got their footing, the Eagles scored in bunches and exploded for over 350 yards of offense and their fourth win in as many starts.
