Colonial Beach Drifters varsity football team shuts out Rappahannock Raiders

The Drifters varsity football team was home versus the Raiders on Thursday October 9. The Drifters hit the ground running and never stopped. Their twelve play 58 yard drive resulted in a two yard touchdown run by Lamar Lucas. An interception by Andrai Turner gave the Drifters the ball back on the fourteen yard line.   • Westmoreland County’s Jenifer Broglin wins at Maymont Cross Country Festival

    Eighth grader, Jenifer Broglin, triumphed in the JV race at the annual Maymont Cross Country Festival this past weekend.   • W&L clinches 4th season win

    Washington & Lee’s football team started off slowly against the visiting King William Cavaliers.  However, once they got their footing, the Eagles scored in bunches and exploded for over 350 yards of offense and their fourth win in as many starts.     Washington and Lee’s Cross Country teams traveled to Northumberland for a conference meet against Rappahannock  and Northumberland High Schools.  The unfamiliar course was described by coaches and runners as slow and challenging due to the number of hills, turns, and narrow paths through the woods.  Several runners tripped and all ran cautious.  Despite this true “cross country” course, W&L finished strong.  In the girls race, JV runner Jennifer Broglin placed

    The Todd Jones football era at Washington & Lee High School began with a bang as the Eagles opened their season at King George with a come-from-behind win against the 4A Foxes.  W&L’s running back trio of D.J.     The surrounding counties gathered in Westmoreland at W&L High School for opening day of Youth Football. The league consists of the Peewee (6-8), JV (9-11), and Varsity (12-13). The games started at 9 a.m., and were played on two fields to accommodate all the teams.
