This past week the Eagles of Washington and Lee competed in their last regular-season home match against the Northumberland Indians. This match is always highly contested yearly as it is “The Battle for the Buoy.”
Both teams came out strong and determined to win, and wrestling strong. The Eagles were able to outlast Northumberland in a final score of 31- 30. The Eagles were lead with key victories with pins coming from Miquella Snider, Matthew Squires, and Malcolm Sadler. This is now the sixth time out of 10 years the Eagles have won the battle for the buoy. This night also was special as the Eagles recognized two senior wrestlers Miquella Snider at 120 pounds and Matthew Squires at 138 pounds. Matthew Squires a two year wrestler will move on to a four year college after he graduate.
