Beloved community member gone but not forgotten

Posted on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 1:07 pm

Ruth Allene Self Brown, written and talked about in papers and tributes; but, not everyone knows all there is to Ruth Brown. She will be noted for her community good works in her church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, in the school system, the Cub Scouts and Brownies and her many years of service to the telephone company where she was employed for 28 years. Ruth will be remembered as the wonderful mother of three children, Wayne, Gloria, and Gary; grandmother of her six grandchildren and great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren with one on the way.

The Ruth few people knew and her antics was her best friend, the late Gay Packett. These two ladies were sisters in the VFW Auxiliary to Post 7167 in Warsaw. They traveled all over the country to attend functions. They also accompanied one another to visits to the doctors in Richmond.

Hopefully readers will enjoy these stories as much as her family and friends.

We begin in a doctor’s office somewhere in Richmond. Ruth and Gay were there for one of them to see the doctor.
