Watering volunteers sought

Due to the current drought, Healthy Harvest Food Bank needs volunteers to water new plantings at the new building every day until we get rain. This could be early morning or late evenings. Please call or email Kathy – 804-577-0246 or admin@hhfb.org if you can help.

Don’t wait, check the date and replace your smoke alarms that are over 10 years old. Smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years. Richmond County Department of Emergency Services and RCVFD have partnered with The American Red Cross to bring FREE smoke detectors to the citizens of Richmond County. Call 804-333-5089 to schedule your installation!

UMW of Carmel United Methodist Church, Hague, Spud Dinner, 5-7 p.m. – eat in or take out. Baked potato with choice of toppings, salad, dessert & drink. $

Colonial Beach United Methodist Church hosts its annual Mini-Bazaar and Spaghetti Dinner   4 – 7 p.m. Bazaar will continue on Saturday, October 12 from 8 a.m. – noon.

October 13

Morning Star Baptist Church, 4648 Zacata Road, Montross invites everyone to attend the initial sermon service of Brother Jerald Smith at 3 p.m. Our Lord has called Brother Smith and he is a faithful servant who stands ready to work at the vineyards. Your presence and/or prayers are welcomed.

Celebrate the 171st anniversary Homecoming of Andrew Chapel UMC, Montross at 11 a.m. We anticipate the renewal of the Spirit in our hearts, greeting old friends, and singing songs of faith. All are welcome to enjoy food and fellowship following the service.

CONTINUING EVENTS

Westmoreland County Triad/SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) meets every fourth Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office (behind the new courthouse in Montross). Triad is a non-profit crime information and prevention partnership between seniors, law enforcement, and local businesses to provide seniors and their care-givers information they need to avoid being victims of crime – scams, burglaries, identification theft, home invasions, elder abuse, and more. Westmoreland Ruritan Club, a civic service organization of men and women, meets at 7 p.m. the 2nd Monday of every month at the American Legion Post, 14576 Kings Hwy, Montross. The Ruritan mission is Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service. Join us for fellowship and to help the community.

Westmoreland NAACP meets the second Tuesday of each month at Galilee Baptist Church, Montross at 6:30 pm.
