The new Mary Washington Healthcare Regional Cancer Center at Montross held its grand re-opening on July 11 at its office located at 15394 Kings Highway.
MWHC Regional Cancer Center at Montross is staffed by a full on-site radiation care team including a radiation oncologist, radiation therapist, dosimetrist, physicist and nurse.
Initially, the center will operate Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. until noon. Hours will be expanded as the need for services grows. As an extension of the MWHC Regional Cancer Center, which is accredited by the Commission on Cancer, patients of the Regional Cancer Center at Montross will have access to a full range of care, including diagnostics, surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and support services.
The center will provide a Cancer Navigator Program as a free service to all patients diagnosed with cancer regardless of where patients seek treatment.
This resource will support and guide patients and their families through every step of diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
Navigators can serve as a liaison with the medical care team to help patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options, assist with expediting specialty physician consults and recommend resources for support needs.
