A beautiful dawn greeted the volunteers of Colonial Beach’s waterways, roadways, and beaches as they collected litter on Saturday morning for the Eighth Annual “Save the Bay Day.”
At the end of the day everything from coolers to a “Drug-free School Zone” sign to numerous cigarette butts were found by the volunteers. Members of the community from Vice Mayor Robin Schick who organizes the event to members of the local Girl Scouts gathered trash throughout the town.
“Save the Bay Day” is held in conjunction with “Clean the Bay Day,” which is organized by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, in which people all over the Chesapeake Bay watershed work to keep the Bay and its tributaries clean.
