Birthplace celebrates 280th birthday of George Washington @ George Washington Birthplace National Monument

The George Washington Birthplace National Monument 4H Heritage Club will be demonstrating hearth cooking, blacksmithing and other elements of Colonial living on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Monday Feb. 20 the 4H Heritage Club will continue living history demonstrations throughout the day, and at 1 p.m. the public is invited for cake in the Visitor Center to celebrate Washington’s Birthday. HP LIFE Training Series (Imagine) @ RCC Kilmarnock Center

The Warsaw based UMW-SBDC will be offering the HP LIFE training series “Imagine” at the new RCC Kilmarnock Center, Feb. 23 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. each Thursday in Room 103. There is a non-refundable registration fee for four (4) week course. The four- week series will cover the basics of marketing, operations, communication and finance. It is designed for people who have no background in business and who are in the “dream-phase” of setting up their own business. Reflections on Black History: “Telling One Story” @ A. T. Johnson Museum

On Saturday, Feb. 25 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Armistead Tasker Johnson High School Museum (A. T. Johnson Museum), in partnership with the Westmoreland County Museum and Stratford Hall, will present the first of two seminars that will chronicle the evolution of white and black educational opportunities in Westmoreland County from 1653-1958. The program, to be held in the auditorium of the A.T. Johnson museum, is FREE to the public. This will be a family-oriented program and children are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
