Come enjoy a morning of service to help keep the Rappahannock River scenic, healthy, and trash free! Friends of the Rappahannock is partnering with Belle Isle State Park, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and the Warsaw-Richmond County Main Street Program for Clean the Bay day on June 2. There are several locations to choose from including Main Street in Warsaw, Totuskey Creek Boat Landing, Ware’s Wharf, and Belle Isle State Park. Bird Program and Walk, George Washington Birthplace Natl. Memorial, Monday, June 4, 1:30-2 p.m.- DVD author Joe LaFleur will provide a free audiovisual program about common resident and breeding birds. The program will help you identify birds by sight and sound and will also review preferred habitats where each species is likely to be encountered. Meet at the Visitor Center.
2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Join Mr. LaFleur for a free guided bird walk. The walk features hands-on identification of birds in a variety of habitats. Beginners are welcome. Meet at the Visitor Center.
Joe LaFleur holds degrees in wildlife biology and communications and is the author of Better Birdwatching, a series of DVDs about birds of North America. He has been collecting video and sounds of birds for 20 years and lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia
