Team M.A.T.H., Cople’s Community Problem Solving team, traveled to Suffolk on April 20 to compete in the state competition.
The team worked diligently throughout the school year to help Cople students increase their math knowledge and skills. They have held many contests and challenges and been visible at nearly all Cople events throughout the school year.
In late March the team submitted a six page paper, a HUGE scrapbook, and a five minute multimedia presentation that told everything they had done and plan to do as the year closes out. Their project was then scored by state evaluators and was selected as the top in the state of Virginia while receiving a whopping 93 percent of the points possible.
Their first place finish and high score earned them an invitation to international competition at the University of Indiana in Bloomington, Indiana from June 6-10. They will travel there to compete and represent the state of Virginia, Westmoreland County, and Cople Elementary. We are certain they will continue to make us proud!
