Cathy Wilson loves to paint as much as she loves to teach others to bring out their own artistic talents. Her eye-catching artwork along with some of her students’ best pieces are on display at the Westmoreland County Museum’s original building in Montross until June 16. The Museum is open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.; and on June 7 for Montross’s First Friday until 6 p.m.
“I like to tell people that anyone can learn to paint,” said Wilson with the sunny smile that earned her the nickname “Sunshine” in high school. She now signs her paintings with “Sunshine” with the Christian symbol of a fish underneath because, “Without Him, I wouldn’t have the talent to do what I do,” she said. That includes painting relaxing landscapes, serene seascapes and fun or fanciful images on canvas, wood, slate, glass and furniture.
