The July 14 Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors meeting was extraordinary in that county resident Jeryl Dickerson Sr. and family stood to recognize the efforts of rescue and law enforcement personnel in the search for the late Jeryl Dickerson Jr. who recently passed away.
The room was silent as those in attendance reflected on the Dickerson family’s loss and erupted in applause over those recognized and Jeryl Sr.’s strength as he spoke of the family’s tragedy.
The Dickerson family extended heartfelt gratitude for those who contributed to the massive efforts in locating Jeryl Jr. in a river-related rescue attempt turned recovery. The Dickerson’s acknowledged the massive rescue attempts by awarding plaques of gratitude and thanks to many key people who strove to assist the Dickerson’s in their hours and days of need.
