The W&L Eagles hosted their first three team cross country meet with the Lancaster Red Devils and West Point Pointers on Wednesday, September 11 at Chandler’s course. This is a 3.1-mile course that includes hills, pavement, and grass. It was a bright sunny day with the temperature in the lower 90’s with a slight breeze. The runners would have to ensure they were hydrated to avoid any complications while they are on the course. The Eagles Conner Benson crossed the line second in 20:29, Corey Mumford was fifth in 22:25, William Luzier fourteenth in 23:35, B Brock seventeenth in 24:23, Alex Diaz nineteenth in 24:41, Ryan MacNamara twenty-first 25:21, JV Barry Ewell twenty-third 25:51, JV Marcos Valdez thirtieth 29:39, Justin Rose thirty-fourth 32:06, and Eryc Romero thirty-seventh 40:04. The Red Devils were first with a total of 29, the Pointers were second with 48, and the Eagles were third with 51 points. On the girl’s side, the Eagles had three runners Celene King was ninth with a time of 30:18, Ryleigh Garrison finished nineteenth in 35:18, and Ashley Gilhuly was twenty-second in 50:50. The Lady Pointers were first with 22 points, the Red Devils was second with 39, and the Eagles didn’t have enough runners to get a team score. Runners must increase their endurance; they can run farther than the race distance to make it easier on race day. W&L will run in a five-team race with Lancaster, Mathews, Northumberland, and King and Queen at Lancaster on Wednesday, September 18.
