The W&L Eagles varsity baseball team notched three wins in the early 2019 season. They traveled to the West Point Pointers on Thursday, March 7, at the Middlesex Chargers on Tuesday, March 12 and were home to face the King William Cavaliers on Thursday March 14. The Eagles scored first against the Pointers with three runs in the first (3-0) then added two more in the top of the third (5-0). They gave up a run in the bottom of the fifth before adding two more in the sixth and seventh to get a (7-2) win. Jordan Peyton was on the hill for the Eagles and had 13 K’s and allowed two runs over seven innings. Nick Balderson had 2 hits and 3 rbi’s, and Trendon Craig 1 hit, 2 rbi’s and scored three runs. The Eagles jumped out to a (3-0) lead in the top of the first against the Chargers but the Chargers tied the game (3-3) in the bottom half. It was another crooked number for the Eagles in the second with five runs to make it (8-3). The home team scored one run in the second and third to get a little closer (8-5).
