The W&L Eagles varsity football team defeated the Mathews Blue Devils at home on Thursday, August 30. The game was cut short with two-minutes left in the third quarter because of inclement weather (lightning in the area), so the score may have been worse. Head Coach Joe Taylor said, “We did some things well; we have guys that can make plays. We have to have a more consistent effort.” The Eagles first play from scrimmage was a 60-yard pass from Chase Scott to Shane McNeill for a touchdown (td) and a (7-0) lead. JJ McNeill went up the middle of the field and Chase Scott hit him in stride for a 36yd td and a (14-0) score. Shane McNeill and Chase Scott connected again in the second quarter for a 31-yard td to make it (20-0).
