The W&L Eagles football team traveled to the Essex Trojans for their game in the second round of the class 1 Region A playoffs on Friday November 22. Coming off a thrilling down to the last second victory of the Drifters just a week ago the Eagles had to be brewing with confidence. All parts of the football team (offense, defense, and special teams) showed up when they needed them to secure a first-round victory. The Trojans were first on the scoreboard; they had to use all four downs and on fourth and goal from the one-yard line Ahkaliq Martin plunged into the end zone to make it (0-6). Mid-way through the second quarter the home team’s Takeyo Day Jr scored from twenty-four yards out and they added the two-point conversion to go up (0-14). The score stayed the same at the half.
