The W&L Eagles varsity baseball team got two more victories in a one run game at the Colonial Beach Drifters on Tuesday, April 9, and a no-no (no hitter) versus the Rappahannock Raiders on Thursday, April 11. The Eagles got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Henry Long drew a walk; he had three free passes in the game. The Drifters tied the game in the bottom half (1-1). The visitors broke the tie in the fifth off a Moochie Hunter’s single (2-1); they added and insurance run to make it (3-1). The home team manages one run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead in half (3-2). Neither team scored again, and the Eagles won (3-2). This was the closest game they have had; it lets the team know the other teams are looking at their record and checking the stats. Trendon Craig led the team with 2 hits, scored 1 run, and stole 2 bases. Tyler Holden went seven innings for his second complete game with 4 K’s, 4 hits, and allowed 2 runs.
