Colonial Beach High School is bringing another former Drifter back to the black and gold. Jennifer Grigsby accepted the position of principal as of August 1 on the heels of Superintendent Kevin Newman’s return.
Grigsby worked for Colonial Beach Public Schools for a number of years in various positions. She taught a number of science classes for CBHS including physical, earth, biology, chemistry, physics, forensics and Principles of Technology from 2004-2008.
During the 2008-2012 years, she worked on her Masters of Science in Educational Administration at the University of Scranton. It was during those years she worked as an Administrative Assistant to School Improvement and as Title I Summer School Principal. Grigsby also worked as the Career and Technical Education Director through this period. She also performed her principal internship years at CBPS as part of her Master’s program.
During her principal internship years, Grigsby instituted Drifter Time, which allows students needing extra help to get it during the day. She also introduced the Standards of Learning (SOL) academy idea.
