The W&L Lady Eagles varsity soccer team held the King William Lady Cavaliers scoreless to win at home on Wednesday, March 20. “I think we played well. This is our second game, so we’ll get better the more we play, stated Whitney Wade.” The Lady Eagles got on the scoreboard when Whitney Wade fed the ball to DeVonna Fisher and she beat the goal keeper to make it (1-0) at the 4-minute mark. Head Coach Cole Vanover said, “We were attacking the first fifteen minutes then they (Lady Cavaliers) took over and we just reacted; we didn’t force the action.” The Lady Eagles pressed up the action on offense late in the first half which resulted in an in the box hand ball on the Lady Cavaliers. This gave the Lady Eagles a penalty kick; Esmeralda Zelaya left footed the ball to the back of the net at the 34-minute mark for a (2-0) lead.
