Lady Eagles soccer gets double shutouts

The W&L Lady Eagles varsity soccer team hosted the Lancaster Lady Red Devils on Monday, April 15. The Lady Eagles goal keeper had a small rib injury, so Savanah Ess stepped between the pipes to help her team. Savanah Ess said, “This was my first time playing in the net, so I just relied on the defense.” The defense played one of their better games; they didn’t allow a shot on goal. The Lady Eagles offense had a scoring feast with 10 goals and the game was halted after half time and the scoring of the tenth goal. They were led by DeVonna Fisher with a ‘haul’ (4) goals, Whitney Wolf a ‘hat trick’ (3) goals, Sophia Luzier 2 goals, and Esmeralda Zelaya 1 goal. DeVonna Fisher and Hayley Hirschberg had 2 assists, Esmeralda Zelaya, Sophia Luzier, Whitney Wolf, and Hailey Almalel 1 assist. The Lady Eagles were home again versus the Northumberland Lady Indians on Wednesday ,April 17. They were first on the scoreboard with a goal by Hayley Hirschberg at the 5-minute mark to give them a (1-0) lead. Whitney Wolf put the ball in the back of the net a few minutes later to make it a (2-0) advantage with seventy-one minutes to go.
