One of two individuals suspected in the July 25 burglary at Cople Elementary School was apprehended last week following an investigation by the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s office.

On Oct. 3, Troy L. Eddings, 23, of the Hague area, was arrested and charged with four felonies, including breaking and entering, grand larceny, destruction of property, wearing a mask in public/private, and misdemeanor counts of petit larceny and trespass.

“The two individuals entered through a side utility door and gained access to the interior of the building,” said Sheriff C.O. Balderson, following the arrest.  “They took four to five cell phones and approximately $15.”

Balderson noted that the suspects were caught on video surveillance film maintained as a security measure by the school.

“At the time there was no positive identification, but the investigator did retrieve evidence, including fingerprints that led to a positive ID.”

Following his arrest he was released on a personal recognizance bond by the magistrate.

He was arraigned on Oct. 9 in general district court.

Authorities are still searching for the second suspect in the case.

“We have no information on that individual at this time, but if anyone has information please contact us,” Balderson said.
