Master Gardeners offer tips for growth

Posted on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm

Bob Barker, a Montross resident, shows Harriet Chinn, a Northern Neck Master Gardener volunteer, a distressed houseplant.  Harriet and another volunteer, Darlene Nelson, determined that the plant, an Aloe vera, needed less water, more sunlight and fertilizer.
Master Gardeners are Virginia Cooperative Extension volunteers trained by local Extension Agents and Specialists in home gardening. They work with the public at the VCE office in Westmoreland Mondays from 9 a.m.- noon., April – Oct. They will answer home landscape questions, diagnose plant diseases and identify garden pests.
Residents of the Northern Neck can call or walk-in during office hours or email their questions to helpdesk@nnmg.org. The Westmoreland VCE office is located at 18849 Kings Highway in Montross.
