One hundred and nine Montross Middle School eighth graders recently gathered for the annual promotion ceremony. Excited parents and guardians cheered them on as each name was announced and the students picked up their certificates.
During the ceremony recognition was given to a number of students. They included students with the highest grade point average in various content areas; Matthew Fisher, Algebra 1; James Fauntleroy, writing; Allyson Foor, Reading; Jason Hensarling, History; Cameron Teets, Science; and Elizabeth Rector, Math 8. Other students winning special certificates included Michell Castro, Tompkins Award; Ceniya Candia, Most-improved; Devyne Garnett, Optimist; Jordan Saunders, Best Male Athlete and Kearra Delano, Best Female Athlete.
