Seven wrestlers from Washington & Lee earned honors at the Cavalier Clash this
past weekend. However head coach Brian Satterwhite wants to see improvement and maybe even sooner at their annual invitational this Saturday.
Coming into Saturday’s event, the Eagles are coming off a fifth place finish in the Cavalier Clash at Caroline High School. Among the wrestlers to finish, seven from W&L placed among the top four finishers in their respective weight classes.
Markeyse Thompson led the team with a first place finish. Sergei Minor, Steven Wilson, Nick Brown and Gabe Loesel followed with second place honors.
James Snider rounded out the group with a third place finish and in fourth was Josh Whitfield.
“For the young guys and newcomers, it was a brand new experience for them and I could see improvement from match to match,” Satterwhite said. “I was very pleased on the outcome.”
The second year head coach explained that some of the challenged themselves wrestling in higher weight classes. He hopes this will add to their steady improvement into their next match on Dec. 14 at home.
