Obituaries, week of Dec. 11: Branson, Moses, Nystrom and Prince

Richard Sutton Branson 

Richard Sutton “Ricky” Branson, 61, of Montross, husband of Betty M. Branson, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.  He was retired as parts salesman at Warsaw Small Engines.

He is survived by a son, William B. Sisson (Samantha) of Montross; daughter, Vicki B. Hackett (Samuel) of Henrico and brother Benjamin H. Branson Jr., (Janet) of Montross.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at Warsaw Church of God. Memorial contributions may be made to Montross Rescue Squad, PO Box 1174, Montross, VA 22520 or Westmoreland Co. Vol. Fire Dept., PO Box 222, Montross, Va. 22520.

Sister Mary Carey Moses

Sister Mary Carey Moses passed away on Dec. 2, 2013 at the Schnurmacher Nursing Center in White Plains, N.Y. She was born Nov. 9, 1924 to Mary Coleman and George C. Carey in Westmoreland County.

At an early age, she was baptized at Potomac Baptist Church.

As an adult, Mary moved to New York and met and married Clinton Moses.  To this union were born June, Michelle, Nicole, Casheika, Edward and William.

Mary and Clinton loved children and became foster parents with Louise Wise services as well as adoptive parents of 36 infants and 17 teenagers.

She joined Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the Nursery Auxiliary.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, June, Michelle, Casheika, Edward and William; grandchildren, Maryann, Journey, Mia, Ryan, Unique and others; great-grandchildren, Leann and others; nieces and nephews, Shirley, Baby Sis, Charles, Sherwin and many others. Her husband, Clinton; brother, Johnny; sister, Bernice and one daughter, Nicole, predeceased her.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 6 at Calvary Baptist Church, White Plains, N.Y. Rev. Erwin L. Trollinger officiated. Burial followed in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.

James Carl Nystrom 

 James Carl Nystrom, 60, of Warsaw, a self-employed carpenter, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013.  He was the son of the late Rudy Nystrom Jr. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Nystrom of Potomac Falls; his devoted companion of 33 years, Linda and a twin sister, Janice Marie Beck.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Nystrom.

Cheryl F. Prince

Cheryl F. Prince 50, a resident of Montross, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013.

She was a self-sufficiency specialist with social services.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, James; her beloved daughter, Jacqueline B. Brown and husband, Chris and all of her four-legged children Harry, Charlie, Willie, Tina, Colby, Alecia, Molly, Tony, Caroline, Diesel, Snoop and Meadow.  She was a loving grandmother to two grandchildren, Caden and Riley Brown.  She is also survived by her mother, Lois Flournoy and brother, M. Wayne Crown and wife, Jean.

She leaves mother- and father-in-law, Mary Prince and Charles Prince; her brothers- and sisters-in-law Susan Prince, Elizabeth McGehee, Chuck Prince, Stuart Prince, Donald Prince and an extended group of friends and family.

She has gone to be with her four legged children, Dawson, Sandy, Biscuit, Muffin, Sammy, Ginger, April, Toby and Pumpkin.

A memorial service was held at Woody Funeral Home Parham Chapel, Tuesday, December 10.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Welch Funeral Home, Montross Chapel.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
