Ora Fay Jackson

Ora Fay Jackson, 84, of Oak Grove, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 in Fredericksburg. She was born in Flushing, New York on March 13, 1929 to Richard Bruce Wright and Ora Fay Sanford. She graduated from Oak Grove High School and after a year of business school, she worked in a post office at Washington’s Birthplace and as a teacher’s aide at Washington District Elementary School. Ora enjoyed singing with several church groups, playing her piano, gardening and raising plants, sewing, crafts, and was an excellent cook and homemaker. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren teaching them about nature, to read, sing, and bake. Her favorite activity was studying her Bible and sharing God’s word with others. She was a life long member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Mckenzie Jackson of the home; three sons, Mckenzie Lee Jackson (Diane) of Colonial Beach, Douglas Ray Jackson of Colonial Beach and Michael Wayne Jackson (Vickie) of Gloucester; brother, Richard Bruce Wright Jr. of Charlottesville; six grandchildren, Bryan Lee Jackson of Colonial Beach, Hallie Rebecca Jackson of Florida, Deborah Lynn Jackson of Colonial Beach, Rachel Michelle Jackson of Gloucester, Tyler Hayden Jackson of Gloucester and April Dawn Lane of Richmond; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Travers of Richmond, Mckenzie Taylor Lane of Richmond and Madison Powell of Florida. A viewing and funeral was held Thursday, Oct. 10 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Oak Grove, with the Rev. Willard Bowen officiating. Interment was in Popes Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Baynesville. Memorial donations may be made to the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023. William L. Oliff

 William L. Oliff, 92, was born in Flat Iron, Westmoreland County, on Nov. 11, 1921 to James and Althen Jenkins Oliff. He passed away on Oct. 11, 2013.He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Thomas, James, Marion, Franklin and Jack Oliff and a sister, Margaret Oliff Mozingo. He is survived by his wife, Carmal Oliff; three sons, William “Bobby”, Stevie and Johnny Olife; brother, Charles L. Oliff, and two sisters, Althen Oliff Parr of Charlottesville and Mary Oliff Sanford of Colonial Beach. Arrangements and a memorial service were made by the Beall Funeral Home in Maryland. Funeral services were held October 14 at Ephesus Christian Church, Foneswood. Rev. Mark Anderson officiated.

Edna D. Studt

Edna D. Studt (“Lois”) passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2012 at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester.    She was 84.  Lois and her husband, John, were long-term residents of Ebb Tide Beach.   She is survived by John, and three of her six children – Sharon, Linda, and Karl; three other children – Maureen, Terry, and John Jr. predeceased her.   Individuals who knew Lois and would like to get in touch with the family should Email sharonpatterson14@aol.com, or phone 540-454-0660.
