O’Gara prepares for Trunk or Treat and haunted house

O’Gara Training in Montross will be a big part of the fun again this year to get in the Halloween spirit. On October 27th and 28th the O’Gara Haunted House, in partnership with the Westmoreland County Museum, will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night and on Sunday night, October 29th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. An admission price of $5 per person will once again be donated to Washington and Lee High School whose students are instrumental in staffing and acting parts in the haunted old factory setting. Tuesday, October 31st will feature trick-or-treating at the O’Gara Trunk-or-Treat held across from Food Lion going on from 6 to 8 p.m.

Both the Haunted House and Trunk-or-Treat are being provided with lots of community help and participation and we have many people to thank. The Trunk-or-Treat event draws hundreds and hundreds of costumed area children who go from car to car gathering candy. While the Haunted House requires an admission price and is held on 3 nights, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Trunk or Treat is only on Halloween night – and is free of charge.

This year, the O’Gara facility cars and staff will be joined by cars from Northern Neck Chevrolet who will have a scary trailer, People’s Community Bank, Carry-on-Trailer mini-haunted trailer, a car and ranger from George Washington’s Birthplace, two spooky hearses full of candy provided by Moose Lodges in Colonial Beach and Montross, Stan’s Skateland roller-skate car, and River Edge Inn in Colonial Beach!

Without all the willing helpers and donations of candy, this event would never be able to happen, so we would like to acknowledge that dozens of area businesses help with money and candy, so look at the sign on the fence as you come to Trunk-or-Treat – and mention to the area business people how much you appreciate all they do!
Held for the sixth year, the Haunted House (and 7th year for the Trunk-or-Treat) have become annual area favorite events. Thank you to the entire community, all the businesses, volunteers, family and friends and we will see you in Montross on Halloween!
