The 68th Annual Potomac River Festival kicks off Wednesday in Colonial Beach when the carnival hits the town hill. Magic Midways will have rides, games and attractions open Wednesday through Sunday with wristband sales every night.
Friday night the “Nation’s loudest Fire and Rescue Parade” will take to the streets of Colonial Beach starting at 7:30 p.m.
Emergency service vehicles will ride through town, sirens blaring and lights flashing, to the delight of young and old.
Immediately following the parade Miss Colonial Beach takes place on the town hill stage. Contestants from age 16-20 will vie to wear the crown for 2019-2020. Young women who have not been married or had a child are eligible to compete in the beauty pageant.
Saturday morning dawns bright and early with vendors on the hill all day long. Food, crafts, and various companies will be all over town hill waiting to sell you breakfast, lunch or that must have item. At noon the Grand Feature parade will begin and take the same route as Friday’s parades.
With dance troupes, majorettes, and floats by local organizations, this is a not to be missed event of the day.
